AlumniDB up and Beta-ing!

After a semester of hard work, AlumniDB is ready to venture out into the world. AlumniDB has been a project of the content group for quite some time. The idea and some of the original design was a product of Glen, current alumnus. Last semester, Kevin and Tom made the database and coded a great deal of the web interface. This semester, Shawn and Jean have brought forth a (hopefully) working version and, in the process, learned a great deal about sql and php.

AlumniDB is intended as a proof of concept as well as a useful service for CS alums who'd like to contact their fellows and stay more connected with the Earlham CS community.

The content group shall continue to improve AlumniDB, and we welcome suggestions, criticisms and praise alike.

More CS Alums Make Out. Chu in Good Company.

From Fayetteville, Arkansas, we've received news that CS Alum Ned Bingham ('01) is now working for the University of Arkansas' Department of Housing as an Applications Programmer. According to Bingham himself, "Took close to 3 years, but I finally managed to move on (and I'm sure up) in the world." Kudos go out to Ned and for anyone who wants to send him kindness and glory filled congratulatory statements, he still regularly checks his Earlham CS Mail (nedb@cs...).
