This is a free (as in free beer, not as in free speach) all-day Linux conference in Columbus, on 30/Sept. Kevin Hunter (ECS, CS alum) is planning on going and likely has some room in his vehicle. There are likely to be others interested in going with other opportunities for ride shariing. For more information, see http://ohiolinux.org/.
If you are not already a member of the cs-students mailing list visit: http://lists.cs.earlham.edu/mailman/listinfo/cs-students to join. Further discussion might be directed there.
This coming Monday ---
Pizza, yet again. (This time base 2)
We're hosting our annual beginning of the year gathering on Monday (18/Sept). At noon. This is open to all CS students, majors or not, and to our fellow travelers. (They who come late get the vegan anchovies.)
As usual, we'll have pizza and beverages and will give everyone a chance to introduce themselves. This is a good opportunity to meet the incoming students and/or to meet the established community (depending on where you stand with respect to those categories) and generally to find out who that is that you keep bumping into in the Dennis labs at odd hours of the night.
To help us figure out how much food to get, it would be extremely helpful if you would let us know if you expect to come. Mary Lou will keep the official list, but if you reply to jrogers I'll pass it along.
Want to make a web site? Want to do it “right”?
Interested in making it look nice? Do you want it to be easy? These
are all concepts of the Earlham WebDesign Workshop, Mondays and
Thursdays at 7:30p to 9:00p for 10 weeks. Starts Monday, 28th Aug
2006. (And if you miss the first session, come to the second!)
Check out the course moodle page for more information.
