The first major deliverable for the Senior Seminar in Computer Science is a survey paper covering the particular area of computer science you are considering for your research and development project. You are not expected to know exactly what you are going to do yet, just what area you will be working in.
This paper should be about 10 pages long, single-spaced, plus the bibliography. It should broadly cover the sub-discipline you are interested in, how it fits into the broader picture of computer science, what the interesting problems are, and who is doing the work in this area.
The bibliography is very important, it should be relatively complete with respect to the sub-discipline you choose, including 5 or more primary references, and should be in a standard bibliographic format. As I've said in class if you find yourself managing bibliographic references by hand you are making a significant mistake in your approach.
