To Do
- Cleanup/setup 4th floor workshop
- Setup Entarasys in a multi-point configuration
- What's the bandwidth from a multi-point WAP? From two at the same time?
- Figure-out how Entarasys uses RADIUS
- setup a RADIUS server for the Entarasys WAPs
- test positive and negative
- Research Oberlin's experiences - emailed and am waiting for response.
- Describe each of the satellite locations, # humans, distances, hardware required - based on Entarasys setup on whiteboard in D209
- RACM
- may not be needed with RADIUS, rather a way to synchronize Kevan's DB with RADIUS
- conf file for all valid wireless adapter hardware addresses (generated from Kevan's DB)
- conf file that describes each location and the base stations at that location
- driver that reads the above and constructs a valid upload config and sends it to the specified stations.

Technologies Under Consideration
List the cost, capabilities, our experiences, any special considerations, etc.

- 3COM is sold and supported by Insight, For sure compatable.
- Discontinued, but still supported and guarantied. Possibly bought cheap?
- $150 from Insight
- Long distance 2.4GHz wireless - AiroNet(BR100E)
- We have worked with this hardware and know it fairly well.
- No longer made, must use newer version.
- Good connection, fairly reliable.
- Local Configuration, Serial port (female).
- Remote Configuration, any wired or wireless LAN station via Telnet, FTP,SNMP, or HTML via Web browser.
- Supports DHCP but not NAT

- 2.4Ghz wireless - Enterasys
- Brandy Dibble, 603/337-1554

- Local area wireless - Bases
- Airport Base Station
- We have used and worked with.
- Max of 10 users per base.
- Security with user list(DHCP) can be made on one base and then export
to a file and import to any other bases. Any file imported adds to what is already on the base so
making an update file and adding users would be an easy way to go. Should be possible to
modify code to send to a list of bases all at once.
- Config file can be done right once and uploaded to all other bases.
- Supports NAT
- $299.95 @ www.macconnection.com
- Aironet(BR100E)

Operational Issues
Other People's Experiences
- Berea - didn't like AirPorts, difficulties interacting with Windoze.
We haven't seen the same problems yet, it may be that the newer gear
that we're using is improved or that our card choice (Farrallon) is
more compatible with Windoze.
