• Here is Something I whipped up this weekend (Sun Jan 31 02:43:13 EST 1999)  It's a jukebox cd player written in java. It uses JNI to do the ioctls (linux only). Although there is not much there, so it could be ported rather easily I'm sure. It's handles Jukebox cdrom drives (IDE and SCSI) as well as multiple drives. So if you've got more than one cdrom drive you can play more than one disk. It can shuffle the tracks on one disk or multiple disks. Here's the source, Here's the compiled version. You'll need SWING to use it.

PostgreSQL

Free and Good Object Relational Database. This is good for when you need a database that handles SQL statements and you don't have $1,000 bucks.  This is also a very complete and GOOD database. Not just some free ware junk.  http://www.postgresql.org For a Comparisons to others  http://www.postgresql.org/comp-comparison.shtml Basically compares to Sybase  This is the project document to Delphi, a software engineering project I did. The idea was to create a virtual classroom. We used a postgres database, and PERL scripts to do our version. Most of our ideas were selected for use in the final  production version, which is still under development. Overall I put in about 300 hours of PERL and SQL programming time into this. Very fun. Parallel Virtual Machine

• This is all the source code to some PVM routines I've written. Some are well commented, others are not. All of them work.
• This averages a bunch of floating point numbers (average_pvm.c)
• This determines the standard deviation of a set of numbers (stddev_pvm.c)
• This does a full numeric collapse on a set of numbers (colapse_pvm.c)
• This searches a file for a particular string, even if seperated by non alpha characters (pvm_crypt.c)
