This page accompanies last year's senior
seminar: Robotics. The class is
aimed at learning the issues involved in simple robot control and manipulation (sounds
like we're out to rule the world (maybe we are!)). Currently, we are trying to simulate a
bee hive and all the subtleties therein.
I've taken a great interest in getting these little 'bots to talk to one
another, and the best way I've found is with radio communication. I've taken a $5 walkie
talkie and built a psudo-interface to place between it and the Handy Board. A classmate
and I have made great headway in defining the protocol, basing it on an older AX-25 protocol used in
HAM radio networks. Trying to kill two birds with one stone, I'm going to try to implement
some simple networking commands for the 'bots in Assembler for the 6811 processor for a
project in Principles
of Computer Organization class. You can see how that
project is going.

Here we are working hard on robotics! |
