University of Aberdeen was founded back in 1495 when William Elphinstone, Bishop of Aberdeen, built King's College in what is now called Old Aberdeen. As the years passed King's College grew and the name was changed to University of Aberdeen. However, King's College has kept its name and is still called King's college at the University of Aberdeen (King's College for short). There is a small courtyard inside and a chapel on the North side with the crown steeple as shown above.
