CS3510: Artificial Intelligence
We are going to be working in Prolog so much of the beginning of the semester is going to be spent learning about the language. It is very similar to scheme though and I had some experience with that last semester. My class has two lectures a week and one practical. A practical is just a two hour session where the class gets together to work on programming. My class is not in the computer science department, instead it is in the geography and land economy building.

CS4519: Networking and Internet Working
I think this is going to be an exciting class. I have only had a little networking experience in the computer center last semester so I am going to learn a lot. The professor gives us handouts of the lecture every day so most of us just read along as he speaks. I have been taking notes on some of the things that he says that are not covered in the handouts. This class meets in the geography department located in the Meston Building next to Queen Mothers library. We meet for a lecture twice a week and then for an hour tutorial once a week. The course only runs for the first half of the semester.
Topics For The Course:
Networking Technologies: Ethernet, Frame Relay, ATM
    TCP/IP protocol suite
Internet Routing: DNS, IP routing, ICMP & SNMP
Managing Data on the Network: Replication & caching, Network file systems
    Application protocols: Telnet, FTP, SMTP
Current and Future Trends: Multimedia data Transfer, Convergence: TV and wireless, Ubiquitous networking

EC1501: Macroeconomics 1
I am taking this course here to fulfill one of my general education requirements back home. The class meets in Arts Lecture Theater pictured below. The place seats about 500 but there are probably only 100 or so in the course. The professor does all of his talking into a microphone so he is easy to understand. The overheads are done on a big screen so they are easy to see. We have been talking mostly about the economy of Great Britain but the professor has also included some other countries as well. The course meets three times a week. We will have two labs some time during the semester and five tutorials. The tutorials will be broken down into much smaller groups where we will have a chance to talk.

CE2508: Celtic - The Making of the Modern Gaelic Community
The Gaelic community lives mostly in highlandsand islands. The Gaelic civilization and language is dying out rather quickly. There are 15-20 islands with Gaelic speaking communities. I took this course because I wanted a course that included Scottish history. This class deals with more modern history. It has given me some information about the area which will be nice when I make my travels to this part of the country. The class meets twice a week for a lecture and has a tutorial once a week. We will have to write two assessment essays during the term and then take a final.
