Permits and Reservations We do not need permits to camp along this section of the long trail. The campsites run on a first come, first serve basis therefore we do not need to make reservations. It is unlikely that we will arrive at a campsite that is already taken however if we do, the campsites are relatively large so other campers may not mind accomidating our group. It is also possible, since distance between campsites is not too far, that we can have an extra long day to make it to our next site and then have a break day.

Gear Rental We are providing for all campers a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and a pack. We can rent these at the Outdoor Gear Exchange in Burlington, Vermont. Other group gear can be bought from here as well. Funding for this is included in the cost of the trip for the campers. As this is the first trip run by the Jordan Family Outdoor Adventure program, it will be smart to invest in quality gear so we can use it for future trips. Outdoor Gear Exchange Website

Maps We need to order 4-6 maps of the long trail. Vermont's Long Trail Waterproof Hiking Map can be ordered at the Green Mountain Club Website for $8.95 each. Green Mountain Club Maps

Transportation We will be meeting campers at Williams College which is in walking distance of the trailhead where we will be starting. We'll need to shuttle kids from our final destination back to Williams campus. This is roughly 30 miles by car which should take about 45 minutes. Instructors, we will be using our new Jordan Shuttle which seats 15. Everyone should fit in one shuttle including gear.
