A weekend long car camping trip in Susquehana State Park in Jarrettsville, Maryland.

Trip Summary -- Susan (the leader) and Kathryn (the participant) will have bonding time through canoeing, hiking, bike rides, camping out, playing on playgrounds, and learning about the environment. To participate in this trip, Kathryn will be expected to know how to bike ride and swim, and needs to have some camping skills (i.e. how to do dishes in the wilderness, how to gather firewood). Canoeing will be taught during the weekend.

Trip Planning and Trip Dates -- Susan will pick Kathryn up at the airport June 7, and they will spend the next several days planning and preparing for their trip. Kathryn will have to spend June 7 going over trip plans with Susan, and giving input for different activities or changes to be made to the itinerary or menu. June 8 and 9 they will buy food and pack for their trip. On June 10, the girls will wake up early to load the car for their trip. They'll leave for Susquehana shortly after lunch (approximately 1:30). They will arrive at Susquehana in the early afternoon, and spend the rest of the weekend having fun together, until their unfortunate departure on Sunday at noon.

Expectations -- Both Susan and Kathryn will be expected to do their fair share of work around camp, which includes but is not limited to setting up camp, cooking meals, making fires, and cleaning up camp. They are expected to be aware of and respectful to the wilderness area they are guests in, and leave it cleaner than they found it. They should also learn about the area they are visiting, about native plants and animals, and local park rules. Susan and Kathryn need to challenge themselves physically and mentally while canoeing, hiking, and bike riding. The girls should improve their back-country cooking skills. They also should have fun cuzzie bonding time (i.e. singing and dancing to Mary Chapin Carpenter songs), play on playgrounds, and relax in the outdoors. Each girl should look over the Equipment List below and make sure to have all of the items on it for their trip well in advance of June 7. Equipment List

Things that will NOT be allowed on this course -- littering, being disrespectful of each other and any camper neighbor's, people not willing to act like a silly goose, bad attitudes.
