Chooser and NWD
The Earlham Computer science department currently has 16 machines that support remote logins. Every Macintosh and Windows machine in the computer labs on campus are equipped with a program that allows such a login. The chooser and NWD scripts are designed to spread the load of multiple users across all available machines. Currently, every time a user logs in he/she is presented with a list of three machines, one of which is chosen. These scripts were written a few years ago by the Pedagogical group. We are now collecting data in order to find ways of further increasing the efficiency of the distribution of logins.
