2006-2007 Academic Year
Earlham College invites applications for a one-year
sabbatical replacement position
beginning in August of 2006. Computer Science at Earlham is a small, dynamic
department, with an orientation towards combining rigorous foundations with
experiential education. Our students are engaged in a very high level of
undergraduate research, application development and system support activity
(see http://cs.earlham.edu
for more information).
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in CS or a closely related discipline (possibly ABD or, in exceptional circumstances, have equivalent experience) and be able to teach a broad spectrum of courses across the ACM/IEEE curriculum. Typical course load is three courses per semester; upper division classes usually have no more than 15 students. Candidates in all areas of specialization are welcome; interest in leading undergraduate research and/or one or more of the student teams which provide nearly all of the infrastructure support for the department is highly desirable.
Earlham is a selective national liberal arts college founded in 1847. Earlham's affiliation with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) informs our emphasis on seeking the truth wherever it leads, respect for persons, learning from and with one another, conflict management and peacemaking, diversity, global education and on international experience.
