My Classes
Yes, I am taking a light load. I figured (and my parents and many others) that it'd be easier to make the transition to college if I took a light course load the first semester. I actually feel like I am taking a light load as the only hard class I have (so far) is Greek and Roman Mythology. It's only hard because we have a lot of reading, but the reading we've had so far has been pretty interesting.

CS127 is my beginning Computer Science course. It's a basic programming course in C++. We meet every Wednesday in the Mac lab in Dennis Hall where there are a bunch of new iMacs with 17 inch widescreen monitors.

Immediately after my programming class I have Discrete Math right next door (literally). I don't really like this class. I don't understand a lot of the stuff and we have to do proofs, which I am terrible at.

An hour after Discrete Math I have Greek and Roman Mythology. I was placed in this class as my Earlham Seminar, which is one of two courses that Freshman are required to take as part of their general education. Basically earlier in the summer I was given a list and I had to choose 4 course that looked interesting and then I was placed in one of them.

If it's Wednesday, I'll have my Wall Climbing class at night in the Wellness Center. I am basically taking this class so I can have 12 credits, which is the minimum to still be considered a full-time student. I am taking this along with weightlifting later in the semester. Earlham has a very nice climbing wall in their brand new wellness center, and you can take a class that teaches you how to climb. Once I complete this class, I could go on to actual rock climbing if I decided to.

Every Thursday I have my LLC class, which stands for Living and Learning in Community. This is a class made up of most of the students on my floor in my residence hall. We basically...learn to live in community. I don't really know how to better explain it. It's short and and it's a pass or fail class.

If I wasn't taking a reduced load, I might've considered taking an Intro to Japanese Culture, which is basically an anime class. I've been fairly interested in anime recently and I think a class like this would be a wonderful opprotunity to learn more about it. Unfortunately I discovered this class after I already picked my classes and my parents thought I should pass on it. There's always next year.
