open source essay. Aaron Cayard-Roberts 8-28-00 I'm taking this class because I thought it would be important to know more of the details of the open source movement since it appears to be becomeing a bigger and bigger thing, not to mention that it works. After reading the first 44 pages out of are book I already see that this way of programing/debuging opens up many new doors for software development. When I signed up for this class I didn't really know what to expect but from the reading and the one class periode I've started haveing much more interest in the open source movement and all of the good things that can come from it. Along the lines of technolagy I do belive that it can be used to change are collective behaver and the evidents of it doing so are all around us. Most americans Watch TV from there houses for entertanment. We can find out whats going on in far away places from phones, news broadcast on radios or TVs, or the all powerfull internet. We no longer have to drive a short distance to the library to get information but instead we are just a few clicks away on are computers from it. We don't even need to turn in turn in physical homework anymore....we can just save it to ~charliep/Homework/cs#. I know there are risks to relying on technolagy and thats a whole other subject, but to let it just change are behaver I think is something that can't be helped. People have always tried to find an easier way of doing things and technolagy is the way that they solve it.
